A total of 874 cars have been set alight during New Year’s Eve celebrations in France, police say.
However, the interior ministry said the number was much lower than in 2019. Authorities also reported a rise in the number of people stopped and detained.
A curfew to tackle Covid-19 meant no significant disruption took place this time last year.
Car burning has effectively become an annual event in French suburbs since riots in 2005 in several cities.

Some 95,000 police and gendarmes were mobilised during recent New Year’s celebrations, French media report – including 32,000 firefighters and security personnel.
In Paris, where face masks have been made compulsory again, 779 people were fined for not wearing a mask.
I like how they told us how many people were fined for not wearing masks, but not how many people were fined for torching cars. I’m gonna guess it’s because the latter is less than the former.

It’s funny how little coverage this tradition gets. It’s literally a case of “Arabs celebrating their hatred for the white country that hosts them.”
French Moslems are the most “integrated” “minority” in any white country excluding blacks in America, having been in the country since the post-war period. These are third generation Arabs in France who hate the country enough to go out and create mass chaos and destruction out of distain for their host.
Of course, that is the way of diversity: the big bulk of people never do integrate. Even race-mixing doesn’t cause integration, as a kid from one of those relationships just sides with one side or the other (usually the other). There is never any assimilation, there is never any consensus.
Literally the only context in which diversity can work is if you have segregated neighborhoods, and the different groups interact with each other only minimally. Even with some kind of segregation, there is still violence. France has an atheist ideology behind it that says the Arabs can be tamed, so they try to force integrate them, and that just creates more violence.
The one exception to this rule is Asians and white people in places like Hong Kong and Singapore. However, as soon as Chinese got control of those cities, most white people left. They didn’t leave because of riots and cars being burned, but just because Chinese will close off society and make it alienating to whites. So, that isn’t really a great success story.
It really seems like it would make a lot of sense to just let people live in their own countries in peace. The problem is that this violates the theory of multiculturalism, which says that it is necessary for all people to mass-integrate into a brown genetic sludge and live under a one-world government run by Jews.
